Physical Description: with a few exceptions, the most trademark marking of a Rai are the two horns upon their head; however, their features are typically quite varied, much like human beings (their face being the most notable one), but their features can also prove to be quite feral in nature; that is, their skin color can sometimes take on a more demonic hue and appearance whereas the majority of them tend to share the same skin color as humans. Hair and eye color have virtually no limitations to color.They are not a small race. Even women tend to be only a half-foot or so shorter than most males (and some of them are equal in stature to their male counterparts), having broad shoulders and muscular, powerful bodies.

Society: Rai have a tribal society, inhabiting a few small villages usually in deep tropical jungles. Each tribe comprises an average of forty members, ruled by a chieftain, males and females equally earning this distinction. Each Rai earns their place by deeds and actions, rather than empty promises. For a Rai, honor is as important as his clan, and most will die defending either clan or personal reputation.

There is no discrimination between genders in Rai society. Women are able to pursue the same career choices as men, rise to positions of power and are even expected to answer to the call for battle just as men are. Strength (both physical and mental), courage, initiative and independence are prized traits in all Rai. Traditionally, children are seen as children of the parents, but are raised as children of the clan.

Rai are known to be some of the best blacksmiths in the world, they where the first to develop steel weapons and armor and the teachings spread to the other races over time.

Relations: Rai tend to get along with all races from Erin. To their enemies, they are brutal and fearsome opponents, without parallel in their ferocity and cunning. To their allies,they are noble and honorable, following the traditions of their people. Rai, while it is difficult to truly earn the friendship of a Rai, that is not a word they take lightly and to become friends with a Rai is to earn their respect and loyalty. Some will even duel to the death if they feel their friends honor have been offended and they do not have the ability to do so themselves. Rai might seem quick to anger, they are tempered by the wisdom of their leaders and their shamans.

Alignment and Religion: Rai beliefs takes many forms, but the dominant are Ichimeiyo and Tamashigo. some still worship their patron god Hirai exclusively, where as others tend to follow druidism and follow Deidre Most Rai are Lawful.

Adventurers: Increasingly more common, younger Rai either curious of other lands or eager to prove themselves, leave their ancestral homes to experience the wider world. For those facing exile, adventuring is the most viable option for survival.

Racial Benefits

+2 Strength +2 Wisdom -2 Dexterity: Rai are strong and tempered with wisdom,but are sometimes clumsy.
Giant Blood: Rai count as (giant) for any effect related to race.
Medium: Rai are medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Rai have a base speed of 30 feet
Type: Rai are Humanoids with the Giant subtype
Low-Light Vision:Rai can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light. See Vision and Light.
Fearless: Rai gain a +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against fear effects.
Alcohol Resistance: Rai receives the Hard drinking feat as a bonus feat see Alcohol Rules
Survivor: Rai Receive a +2 racial bonus to Perception and survival
Natural Armor: Rai Have +2 to natural armor
Languages: Rai begin play speaking Common and Giant. Rai with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Gnoll, Goblin, Orc, Rithian, Sylvan (except Druidic). Racial Traits

Brute (Rai): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Intimidate checks, and Intimidate is always a class skill for you.

Caravan Drover (Rai):You treat whips as martial weapons, and up to 10 animals and humanoids traveling with you can hustle or make a forced march for 1 hour longer than normal before taking nonlethal damage and becoming fatigued.

Finish the Fight (Rai): You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls against opponents you already injured in the past 24 hours.

Iron Control (Rai): Whenever you're confused and roll to determine behavior in a given round, subtract 10 from the result.

Scrapper (Rai): You receive a +1 trait bonus on all Intimidate checks made to demoralize opponents and a +1 trait bonus on all Perception checks to avoid being surprised.

Battlefield Veteran (Rai): You gain a +1 bonus to Will saves vs. fear effects and a +1 bonus to Profession (soldier) checks.

Small Friend (Rai): This trait allows a creature 1 size category smaller than the rai to remain on its shoulder while the rai fights without imposing any penalties (weight restrictions apply) this does not provide any bonus to cover and concealment however it provides the small creature a Height modifier bonus to hit for high ground.

Alternate Race Traits

Imposing Figure: Some Rai are just more intimidating than others, these Rai are treated as 1 size category larger for the purposes of intimidating and being intimidated, this replaces Powerful Build Racial Trait.

Horns: Some Rai have horns larger than most, long enough to use as weapons these Rai have a natural attack to gore with their horns for 1d4, even if otherwise unarmed. This replaces powerful Build racial trait.

Educated: Some Rai develop their skills in their great cities, these Rai Receive a +2 bonus to any knowledge check they choose, may select a additional language and receive a +2 bonus to linguistics this replaces survivor.


Rai in the western Kingdoms: Rai are commonly found in Amihama, however its not uncommon to see them in any nation, or in areas where the Sha`Zhu are located.

Rai in Calari: Rai can be found anywhere in calari weather in the colonies of their empire or serving as warriors or mercenaries to other nations.
